Flying High

Well, as predicted, Nick (along with all the other senior techs) lost his job yesterday. I'm pretty bummed because he just switched to this store, was really excited about it, and was making great money with a lot of benefits. He saw it coming though and had already started applying other places, just in case. Lucky us. This Friday he's starting at Burger King as assistant manager. Pay isn't as great, but its a better position. I really hope this all works out and he is happy. Thats what really matters, and I'm afraid the long shifts are going to be like the factory days -_- Cross your fingers and send us good thoughts.

Retro-grade post

I meant to post this last Friday, but you know, things happen. I'm still going to blag about it because its still funny.

Nick and I went and registered at Target last Friday. It was super fun. They gave us a coupon for two free pops and popcorns! This really was the best part. I was so excited because Nick really didn't want to be there, so this was a nice little distraction (sometimes, its like shopping with a toddler, you need to bring treats). We (mostly me) had fun putzing around, shooting things with the gun. Just when we were getting ready to ring up our free candy bar (club wedd coupons rule), the tornado sirens went off and we got herded into Targets storm tunnel. It was exciting for all of five minutes, but we had to wait about thirty :P Makes for a good story though.

Now you can buy us presents

Two weeks of school left! Two weeks! This actually shouldn't be good news, because it means I need to go look for a second job. Super gay.

The weird thing about weddings is, as soon as you mention to someone you are having one, they want to discuss every single aspect in minute detail. This was sort of fun at first but now I'm sort of sick of repeating the same thing over and over to people who aren't actually helping me. Funny enough though, I could talk wedding to Ginger all day long. This is probably because shes awesome, and I don't have to relist everything, she already knows it. So we get to move on to bigger and better wedding things.

Nick and I decided on pink and green for the wedding colors, and Ginger and I decided that would be a cool theme for the shower (for my side, not his side :P isn't that stupid? I'm still bitching about it). Our to-do list is dwindling rapidly and I couldn't be happier! His Aunt Holly and Uncle Pat gifted us the minister, his god mother Sherry gifted us a cake (yum!). I'm about 90% sold on this dress, wedding invites have been worded, now they just need to be designed by Amy's BF Ken. We need to decide on transportation, pick a song, figure out flowers, buy hootch, get thank you gifts, and buy our wedding bands. Thats it! Almost done! Wahoo!

Freak

I like to be in control. I don't know if I would call myself a "control freak", but I definitely like to have a say in most things that involve me. My sister, as the maid-of-honor, had been planning on throwing me a bridal shower. This was cool, because I could give opinions and vetos. Then last night I find out that Nick's Aunt would also like to throw me a shower, but only for his side of the family, not both. This totally threw me for a loop since a.) I didn't know people split the familys up and did two showers and b.) I never realized she was remotely interested in throwing one and c.) she is crazy. Plus I have no control, which freaks the hell out of me. What if I don't like it? What if the food is bad? What if its really long? What if they play awful games? What if they don't play games? What is going to happen?!? Aghh! I suppose it all boils down to me getting over it, showing up and being gracious no matter what happens. It is very nice that they would like to do this for me, but it still strikes me as odd.

I was very excited to find out today that over sized bath sheets are available for order on Target.com. Now I can register there without hesitation ^_^ I climbed into the attic today to take stock of what was up there from the apartment. Not much, lol. I think I passed a lot along to Nick when we parted ways and he left it wherever. Some things I think I gave back to his mom. Oh well, hopefully our friends and family will be very generous and the thrift store will have everything else we want!

Be good to you Mother-In-Law

Today was Nick's Grandpa's birthday party thing in Croswell. I bowled a whopping 74, ate a BLT, ran across the swinging bridge TWICE, shopped for candy at the general store, and ate cake. It was a pretty good day. I also got to save a bit more postage by handing out some of my save-the-date cards. What a lazy fuck, huh? More like cheap.

Nick's family seems to be excited for the wedding. Its nice to finally be hearing some encouraging words. When we first started going through with all of this officially, no one was excited and I got a lot of 'Really? Are you sure? Why?' You know, things you don't really want to hear when you're super excited to be marrying the love of your life. What 'ev, fuck em. (This post is vulgar and full of bad grammar. oops)

Forgetful as Usual

Do you ever get an album, listen to it, not think much of it, and then when you hear it again months later its suddenly your favorite album? I do that a lot. It just happened recently with the latest New Found Glory. I put everything on my iPod regardless for this exact reason. When it shuffles past on of those songs ages later and hits the right chord, I'll go back and realize how wonderful the album actually is. Its like a surprise present, getting something new that I've actually had for a year without knowing what I had.

We've booked a hall for the wedding, and now everything seems so much easier. Save the Dates are in the process of getting addressed and mailed, invites are purchased, they just need to be worded and printed. I have a dress picked out, I just need to talk myself into paying for it. Nick's cousin is going to DJ for us and a family friend is going to take pictures. Now we just need to get the details in place, little things like colors, transportation, minister. I can't wait!
